About the role:

We are looking for a Data Analyst /Steward – Geoscientific Data to support data management practices to ensure sustainable value is created from data for RTX. This role coaches and supports leaders in the implementation and embedding of data governance improvement initiatives.

You will be instrumental in helping RTX in maturing data curation and data interoperability capability. This will be done through the development and maintenance of a dataset catalogue, a master and reference data management solution, with an associated governance framework.

As part of this role, you will facilitate alignment and coordination between the various teams, and orebody knowledge SMEs to promote data quality and reference standards.

Reporting to the Program Leader – DataXplorer and working in a collaborative and exciting environment within our global organisation, you will:

  • Develop, maintain, and oversee governance of a centralised master and reference data solution for RTX.
  • Curate, annotate, and publish high-value datasets for consumption by RTX geoscientists and data scientists.
  • Improve data quality for RTX managed systems by developing and promoting quality and verification tools and reporting.
  • Facilitate discovery and access to new data, sourcing from external parties and ensuring freshness.
  • Provide support and direction to the DataXplorer taskforce, D&IM system owners and RTX in the adoption of improved data quality and governance culture and systems for current and future value creation.
  • Need to demonstrate a good understanding of geoscience data
  • Develop scripting to automate manual tasks

What you’ll bring

  • Deep understanding and experience working with datasets including Geoscientific data, and strong experience with data management principals including master data, meta data and reference data.
  • Strong experience with data validation, the extraction of data from large geoscientific datasets, master data management, data governance, script creation, automation
  • Experience with technology such as Azure cloud, Python, SQL and R
  • Extensive experience in capturing business and technical requirements using a variety of techniques and methods
  • A focus on delivering customer value, with the ability to rapidly understand business priorities relating to data and how it is managed
  • Degree or qualifications relating to information management, data management or geoscience would be advantageous but not mandatory.
